Two senior employees of Be Forward Uganda Ltd have been arrested by the Uganda police over allegations of fraud.
The two suspects Caroline Nampeera and Annet Nagawa were detained at the Jinja police station due to obtaining money wrongly.
The suspects’ arrest followed a class-action case lodged by customers claiming loss of money to the company and its subsidiaries.
They claimed to have paid money to the Be forward Ltd website for vehicles but the money was never reclaimed by the team because it vanished.
Upon making an order on the Tokyo-based company’s website, they were told to make payments to receive invoices. These would be issued from the Be Forward agent companies in Uganda that are; Be Forward Uganda Ltd, Nagoya Uganda Ltd or Steel Logistics Ltd respectively.
The sister companies are owned by three gentlemen called Henry Nkeera, Benard Kaigamba and Bruno. They are all suspects too and are being searched for by the police.
“The three directors are currently on the run, we are looking for them. We are currently investigating a case of obtaining money by false pretence,” Onyango said.
