The Bank Of Uganda Governor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile has died at 72.
According to the announcement from the Deputy Governor Micheal Atingi-Ego, he passed on this morning in Nairobi Hospital.
Mutebile was admitted in Nairobi Hospital after he fainted due to the complications he had related to diabetes.
According to different reports, he was in and out of hospitals due to his diabetes.
The family confirmed Mutebile’s time of death occurred at 5:00am.
The State Minister of ICT Godfrey Kabyanga shared his deepest condolences on a tweet this morning.
Other parties too were saddened by his sudden passing and shared their messages of grief.
Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile, a seasoned professional economist has served as Governor and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Uganda since 2001.
He has also started a new term in office after being reappointed in 2021.
